Tianjin TEDA with Oakland County, Michigan

On October 30, 2008, Mr. He Shushan, the director of TEDA Administration Committee led the TEDA trade delegation to visit Oakland County and signed "Agreement on the Establishment of Friendly Relationship between Tianjin Economic-technological Development Area of China and Oakland County, Mich. of the United States" with Mr. L. Brooks Patterso, Sheriff of the Oakland County, (signed by vice-Sheriff). Both sides show intention to strengthen the communication and cooperation on trade, science, technology, culture and education.

Oakland County is the fourth wealthiest county in the United States among counties with more than one million people. The county's automotive-oriented economic base, coined "Automation Alley," is one of the largest employment centers for engineering and related occupations in the United States. Oakland County has more than 30 universities, colleges and technical schools, with total more than 100,000 enrollments. Besides traditional Industries, Oakland County is also launching the “Emerging sectors” Business attraction strategy, seeking to capture, develop and implement new and emerging technologies. Emerging Sectors identifies the top 10 growth sectors and targets the top companies within each sector, prioritized by companies most likely to consider expanding their business into Oakland County.
